Supercapacitors are mainly used in two types of energy storage markets: the automotive and stationary energy storage markets dominated by lead-acid battery stations and the consumer electronics market dominated by nickel and lithium batteries. Supercapacitors are well suited for these two markets and have achieved tremendous growth in both markets. Rapid advances in technology and falling costs will allow it to establish itself as a big four (or five) in the energy storage device market. It is difficult for the traditional energy storage device of Farad capacitor scheme to quickly respond to this transient fluctuation of electric energy. By adding a supercapacitor bank, the technical problems can be solved smoothly.
The super capacitor can be used as the auxiliary power supply for the working power supply of the diesel engine starting system on the aircraft, and can provide the large impulse current required by the aircraft engine instantaneously. The power generation system of the electric vehicle, especially the internal combustion engine, has a great protective effect. Some mature battery technologies of supercapacitor modules, such as lithium-ion batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries and lead-acid batteries, have been developed, because chemical reactions occur during the charging and discharging process, which limits its development. Therefore, the improvement of the performance of the battery mainly depends on the improvement of the packaging technology and the strengthening of the preparation process.
Supercapacitor technology is still in its infancy "infant stage" and has high development potential. Compared with chemical batteries, which are limited by the battery's fixed structure, supercapacitors mainly rely on the physical properties of materials for energy storage. At the same time, compared with other mainstream batteries, supercapacitors still do not fully utilize the potential of surface energy storage, and have not escaped the "workshop"-style manufacturing model and the shortage of raw material supply.
